History

The History of Maple Grove Elementary
Maple Grove has a rich history of serving our community, evolving from a small rural schoolhouse into the vibrant learning hub it is today.
Our Early Roots
Long before the current building existed, the original Maple Grove School District (Common School District No. 10) served local families from a schoolhouse located at the southeast corner of Franklin and Maple Grove Roads. On May 18, 1949, the district officially joined the Boise School District, marking the beginning of a new era for our neighborhood’s students.
Growth and Expansion
As Boise began to grow, so did the need for a modern facility. In 1968, the current Maple Grove School was constructed on South Maple Grove Road. The area was booming so quickly that plans had to change on the fly—while the school was originally designed for 12 classrooms, seven more were added before construction was even finished!
To keep up with our growing community, we have continued to expand over the decades:
-
1973: Six additional classrooms were added.
-
2019: Thanks to the generous support of our community through a local bond, we opened a brand-new wing featuring six classrooms, a modern gymnasium, and updated facilities.

A Unique Learning Environment
While Maple Grove honors a traditional architectural design, it holds a hidden gem at its heart: a beautiful central courtyard. This unique space serves as an "outdoor classroom," allowing students to connect with nature while they learn.
Today, with 28 classrooms and a dedicated staff, we are proud to continue the legacy of excellence that began over 75 years ago.
